First Edition, 8vo. Publisher's burgundy cloth with titles in gilt to the spine.Tinted in burgundy to the top edge. Including a list of the author's works just before the title page. Great dust jacket, illustrated by John Aveten. A very handsome copy with slight bumping to the spine and two faint smudges to the back board. Minimal toning, just a tiny foxing spot to the fore-edge, near fine. Dust jacket showing a little more wear, mainly to the top edge, including a few tiny tears and some sunning to the spine area. Colours to the front are strong and clear. The story tells how a retired laundryman suffered from delusions that he was the reincarnation of Sargon, King of Kings, returned to earth as Lord of the World. Shorter New Cambridge Bibliography (Eng.Lit.) 1293-8.
