Top edges in gilt; untrimmed fore-edge and bottom edge (deckled). Patterned endpapers. Frontispieces and plates throughout with tissue overlays. Condition: Wear/rubbing/age deterioration of leather (very brittle), mostly to spine, corners (also showing a tad), and extremities. Shelf wear. Edges age darken. Vol. I: Top cover appears to have been detached and then reattached. Internally: Light age toning, mostly to preliminaries; light offsetting from plates. Old bookplates of Rodman Wanamaker in each volume. Else overall Good. Free of writing in text and page tears - pages clean and readable. Not former library books, facsimiles, or print-on-demand volumes. A handsome set of antiquarian books. The memoirs, a collection that begun in 1704, relate mostly to the court life at the time of Charles II. The books address the situations and love affairs of the King and many of the courtiers.
