Richard Harding Davis (1864-1916) was a writer and journalist who became well-known for being the first American war correspondent to cover the Spanish-American War, the Boer War, and World War I. Charles Dana Gibson (1867-1944) was an American graphic artist best-known for his creation of the "Gibson girl," an iconic representation of the independent woman at the turn of the twentieth century..
