Some of the compositors included are George Graham (set 1,864 ems per hour); Myles Johnson (set 2,025 ems per hour); Joseph W. McCann (set 2,231 ems per hour); etc. The second folder, "Swifts II. Another 19th century Printing Hall of Fame; The Chicago National Tournament of 1886". The first of 11 cards notes: "In January 1886, Chicago welcomed competitors to the first National Championship of speed typesetting. Printers in the late 19th century set type by hand, as they always had. Also as usual, they raced at it. The fastest compositors had elevated these beer jousts into an organized sport, a public wagering en tertainment". Some of the compositors included are: Clinton W. "The Kid" DeJarnatt; William J.
